[Culture] ❤ China ❤ Great Wall of China

A little bit of Chinese Culture: 

China has the longest ever-built wall in all the World; The Great Wall.

Built for defensive purposes against the invasion of barbarians into the Celestial Empire's territory, this amazingly made architecture construction is one of the many greatest wonders of the World, also listed and protected by UNESCO as a World Heritage.  

The Great Wall is the ideal tourist travel spot since it has a diversity in locations and scenery, of course, with almost 22 000 km long, you can´t expect it to be the same over and over again, right? 

It is to be believed that this massive construction started being built with wood, tamped earth and stones by the Yan and Zhou Dynasty and later on was joined together and consolidated by the Qin Dynasty and finally the Han Dynasty extended west beyond Yumen Pass. 

You may think the Great Wall of China was just a wall...maybe? But no. It had a lot of defensive mechanisms such as watchtowers, fortresses, beacon towers and, of course, a long and almost impenetrable wall. Nowadays more than 60% of this structure is gone due to the forces of nature (heavy rain, snow, winds, etc) and destruction by mankind. 

The Great Wall is China´s main icon, it is filled with legends, myths, stories, symbolism,  poetry and more. Is something to be proud of, to show off to the rest of the World, we don´t have many of these Wonders anymore, so we better look after them and preserve them well. Places like these have their History, is up to us to keep them cared for.
